Firstly we haven’t actually left our dog here. My view is purely based on visiting with a view to using them.
The gent that took us round was perfectly friendly. The grass area where the dogs are allowed to exercise was reasonably sized but they are, apparently, only allowed there on their own and do not receive any ‘proper’ walks. That doesn’t seem great as surely dogs need a proper walk not just to stand on some grass on their own.
Then the kennels themselves. I honestly have never seen anything like it. Small tightly fitted in runs full of barking dogs. If there is Russian prison for dogs somewhere it must be modelled on this. By this point my daughter was in tears and I knew there was no way on earth I would ever leave a dog here.
Don’t get me wrong I know what kennels are like and have used one in Exeter previously. There dogs there were taken on proper walks twice a day and had large well spaced out runs. Yes obviously there was still barking, it’s full of dogs after all, but nothing like here.
I’m sure the dogs are well looked after when they are there as I have no reason to think otherwise and it must work for some people as there were dogs there. I assume they were lodging there and not just looking for homes. All that said nothing on this planet would see me leave any dog there.

Thank you for caring for Stanley whilst we were away. The staff were welcoming and friendly, so he was so happy to go in when we dropped him off and appeared happy and healthy when we collected him 5 days later. I'm sure he's looking forward to his next stay.

We were extremely anxious about leaving our two dogs in kennels for the first time for our 10 day holiday. One we rescued from Foredown in 2019. We were worried about taking him back as he is nervous/reactive and had bad seperation anxiety. The other is a 6 month old pup - so needless to say they are quite a handful and need a lot of attention! Foredown has 'The Cottage' for anxious dogs, and we were lucky enought to be able to board our dogs together in there, which was a huge bonus. The staff were brilliant. They kept me posted throughout our holiday when I emailed, and sent us some lovely pictures to show them at playtime. They returned to us very happy and clean, with all of their belongings. We are so grateful for their care, and I would definitely recommend them and use them in future. If they will have them back haha!

We have been using Foredowne Kennels on a regular basis for 8 years for boarding our Red Merle Collie, Jess, since she was a young pup. And will continue to do so. We have no hesitation in recommending the business. The staff are brilliant. Jess is always happy to be dropped off there and is very well looked after. She settles happily back at home after boarding. As well as shorter stays, on 2 occasions she has had an extended, 3 week stay when we have visited family abroad. Happy as usual on our return! Thanks, Foredowne, you all do a grand job.

We were looking to adopt a dog, and we came across these guys. From day one, we had help with finding the right dog for us. The staff are very friendly and are always willing to help. These guys do such an amazing job. I can't praise the menough. They are very through with making sure the right dog goes to the right home. They offer other services and they also have a shop with all the bits you need for your pet. We got to take our new buddie home we could not be happier.
