My lady and myself were staying local (Parkers Farm) and decided to finish up our holiday with a meal here. We made an excellent choice to dine here, the food and service were of the highest standard. It was pricier than the usual pub food establishment but so worthwhile paying for the quality. The pub itself was modern yet had a lovely ambience about it.

Popped in as one of the very few country pubs in the local area that were actually open (possibly worth doing research before visiting Ashburton in Jan/ Feb). What a lucky find. Handy location, lovely hot wood-burner. Staff all lovely and professional. Real ales excellent (Dartmoor & Otter tonight) and a good selection of wines by the glass. Food was outstanding - they do the incredibly rare trick of doing the “ordinary” to excellence (I don’t often feel the urge to write a review on the standard of a side of fries, but these were crunchy, piping and excellent) as well as the other tricky trick of combining value for money portions with excellent presentation. The £20 for the size and presentation of the gammon seemed cheap and the pickled cucumber & ginger salad with the Korean wings nearly stole the show from the main event. Definitely recommend, even if only for the lovely teapot at the end!

Unreal location for pitching up the camper, the lots are hard standing and very well maintained, toilet and shower facilities are immaculate and hardly any road noise. The staff are amazing, very friendly and welcoming, the food is unreal and reasonably priced, very good quality and portion sizes. Very dog friendly; definitely more welcoming than anywhere else we’ve been!Would most definitely be booking back here again, worth the 3 hour drive!Kirstie, Chris, JJ and Rio x

I like to leave an honest review, and I'm being as fair as possible in my words here...Visited for a Sunday roast around 2 years ago, and after having a very disappointing affair (high price with cold meat and raw parsnips), I decided to come back recently for a mid week lunch, to see if things have improved before leaving a proper review... Unfortunately they have not.The prices seem to have got worse for what you get. Now, I understand inflation etc etc. And I'm totally happy to pay higher prices when the food quality matches what you are paying. Unfortunately it doesn't in this instance. We went for some sharing dishes. The squid rings, a portion of chips and a small Nachos. The squid rings were OK, but £9.50 for a handful of frozen battered Squid rings in my opinion is a little steep. The quality was mediocre, the salad was small. I did choose to swap out the chilli sauce for tartare, which tasted good quality and home made. The chips were over done and tasteless, and again, the price... £5, for the quality and portion size, was too steep. Especially when you can go to somewhere such as the Steam Packet Inn in Totnes (which unless I'm mistaken is actually owned by the same person) and sit on the river in the sunshine there and order a portion for only around £4...The Nachos were the star of the show it has to be said. I'm not normally one for Nachos, but giving credit where it's due, we ordered a small portion and the size was very good, in fact we couldn't finish them they were also loaded all the way through with the cheese, which makes a big difference as you don't get dry nacho chips at the bottom. The service was very good. We were served by what appeared to be two twin sisters, as we had trouble telling them apart.. But they were very friendly and kind and gave us plenty of options with seating etc. It also took us a long time to decide what we were going to eat, mainly due to the high prices! But they were very accommodating and gave us extra time and we never felt rushed or like we were being a nuisance. So kudos girls. The Nachos and the service received is the reason we are giving 3 stars. Otherwise I'm afraid it would probably have to be even lower.Over all, my message to management would be to maybe revise your prices. I understand we are in 2025, but as someone who comes from a family background in hospitality and who has managed and ran restaurants, I just can't get behind some of your prices I'm afraid. For example, as per the menu:£18.50 for scampi and chips and a bit of salad...? I would only just about pay that for Fish & Chips, and it would have to be very good quality to justify that kind of price in a pub.And also, the fact you are charging £3 to swap out crisps for a handful of fries on the lunch menu??I get you need to achieve good GP. But over charging your customers is not the way to achieve it. You need to keep a good returning line of customers who are paying a fair price, and it's safe to say that unfortunately, we won't be coming back for food.I understand that this establishment is popular with tourists in the summer months due to its location and camping etc, but extending those prices out of the tourist season is unfair. It's all the local visitors in the winter months that keep money coming in and ultimately pay the bills.
